It was still too soon. He shouldn’t even be here. The flare of the nostrils as his emotions welled up and battered against the shell he present to her…to the rest of the world. She wondered why he had come back so soon. Why he had even come back at all. Mr. Reddington had the means and ability to quietly slip away and yet, he was here, back at the Post Office enabling the task force to continue it’s work.

“I don’t know your path Mr. Reddington, nor do I claim to have any idea. I’m here because I was asked to be by my superiors.” The young agent leaned against the table, arms resting folded on the steel surface. “As for what the future holds when, and if our paths actually converge, that is for me to deal with. Justice serves blindly, but all weight of that association will be measured against the feather of truth,” thinking of noble lady justice with her scales and sword.

She could see the weight of Agent Keen’s deceased heart weighed heavy on Reddington’s and she desired to know why. If they could negotiate through this day, perhaps in some distant future she could know that secret too.

“And truth is never promised to be easy, fair or kind. Surely we can agree on that simple platitude to start?”

Aram had somehow found where Lizzie’s grandfather lived, off the grid, in the middle of nowhere. He had found him, and he had found the notch in his armor, had seen past and seen that he had collapsed into rubble. He owed a debt, owed it to Lizzie to get back to it, to find her killer and to bring biblical justice to him.

“Don’t be glib, Agent Starling, you know my path, I’m sure you’ve read my mountainous file.” She was asked, that means she didn’t, necessarily, want to come. “So this little meeting isn’t our paths crossing? From where I’m sitting, Agent, our paths have crossed. The next step is whether the paths converge or break off and end up diverging in the wood. I take the road less traveled by, but there are dangers on that road, even the most star-studded FBI Agents don’t dare follow me. ” Clarice Starling seemed to be that sort that wanted to blaze trails, light highways, and this is exactly the way she could do it…. Should Red ever warm up to her.

Right now, he still wanted nothing to do with her. She was about making the headlines, and this task force would do the opposite. Her name’d never see the light of day again if she signed on and became a part of this…if this even continued without Lizzie. He could still smell her perfume in the core. She hadn’t even been there in months, but she  l i n g e r e d  everywhere, especially at the Post Office. He couldn’t get away from her.

Eyes narrow at the young agent, “You and she were both profilers, I understand that,” a pause just long enough to make his next words heavy. “Don’t profile me. We’re not working on me, we’re working on those men and women and assorteds that I bring to the FBI, and that’s all.”
